THE EVENT

Ever since he has arrived on the station, Jin has essentially been trying to go home. All of his work is going to culminate in him building Rift Manipulator Mark 1 over the course of several months. He'll be getting help from several other people in the game who have expressed interest in helping him with his work.

When that's all finished, and after some testing, Jin is going to switch on the machine, with the hope that it will stabilize the rift and allow travel between Sacrosanct and people's home universes.

Of course that won't happen.

What will happen is that the rift will become destabilized and will temporarily have violent fluctuations that will lead to some very interesting occurrences on the station. Jin, his machine, and anyone in the junkyard who wants to, will be sucked into the rift and trapped in a sort of bubble reality for the duration of the event. The rest of the station will have to deal with the consequences. Any attempts to approach the rift itself or even the junkyard will be met with failure. Characters can certainly leave the junkyard, but if they try to go in, they'll be met with spacetime distortions if they attempt to enter.

This will be a large-scale, longterm event that will last ten days. Every two days, something new will happen to the station. This will also partially be open to player interpretation in terms of what happens to their characters and what they experience.

DAY ONE-TWO: SPATIAL DISTORTIONS

The first two days will consist of space warping on different parts of the station. This will be everything from non-Euclidean geometry to Escher-like architecture. Staircases that lead in circles? Check. People walking contentedly on the ceiling? Check. Things appearing in areas they're not supposed to be? Check.

This will also affect proportions and anything else that has to do with space and the presence of items in space. Big things will suddenly be small and small things will be big. This can mean anything from tiny Cybertronians and gigantic rats to entire planets floating around inside the station.

Have fun walking up walls and never figuring out how to leave your house, people. Space will go back to normal by day three.

DAY THREE-FOUR: TEMPORAL DISTORTIONS

Days three and four will involve time shenanigans. Clocks will get stuck or run too fast or too slowly. People will move or talk too fast or too slowly. The fake sun will rise and set hundreds of times within a single hour and then suddenly everything will be stuck at 8 AM for the rest of the day. Trees will turn into saplings, new buildings will look old and decrepit, and characters might find themselves aged forward or backward.

Amidst a station of baby animals, geriatrics and crumbling buildings, people might also find themselves meeting past or future versions of themselves. These versions might flicker into existence for mere seconds, or might appear for hours. People might see the station as it once was, brand new and shiny, or see the station as it will be a hundred years from now. They might even spot the former residents of the station.

Time will go back to normal by day five.

DAY FIVE-SIX: ALL THE COLORS OF THE ANTI-RAINBOW

For the whole duration of days five and six, the entire visual spectrum will be inverted. Every color will appear inverted and the whole station will look like some kind of horrible photograph negative. Orange will appear blue, red will appear green and so on. This will happen not just to solid colors, but also to light patterns and blood colors.

For characters that can see multiple spectrums of light, they might even see ultraviolet light as infrared and x-rays as radio waves. Who knows what kind of whacky things you might see? The light and colors might even start playing tricks on you.

Colors will return to normal by day seven.

DAY SEVEN-EIGHT: ALCHEMICAL MIRACLES

Days seven and eight will be an alchemist's dream come true. During these two days, certain elements will randomly change into other elements. The walls of the station, the bodies of the characters and the air itself will remain unaffected, but other things might start turning into precious metals or toxic compounds. Lead could turn into gold and vice versa. The carbon in a tree might suddenly turn into platinum. Salt could turn into potassium chloride--might want to be careful about that. The vast majority of things, however, will be turning into gold.

For those who want to start a gold rush, sorry--all elements will have the correct number of protons, neutrons and electrons again by the start of day nine.

DAY NINE-TEN: EXISTENTIAL CRISIS

Starting on day nine, things will start to disappear. Big things, small things, people things, it doesn't matter. Entire sections of the station might vanish. Body parts might disappear. Your favorite coffee mug will go poof. Maybe your best friend along with it.

Where things were will be an empty void--an actual hole in spacetime. If you try to look at the item that disappeared, your eyes might skitter off the absence, or you might even have a hard time remembering what was there to begin with. Weren't you just eating a bowl of cereal? Reading a book? Wasn't there a building there a second ago? Where did your arm go? It will all be painless of course, and people will be able to survive even if all of their internal organs vanish. It might feel weird, but you won't die. Nothing has really disappeared completely--just...sort of shifted.

People will also disappear during this part of the event. Their disappearances will be noticed by their friends, and no doubt search parties will commence. Where will the disappeared go? They'll all end up in a strange pocket dimension, along with everything else that has disappeared. In this dimension physics will be mostly nonexistent and probability will be going haywire, but the characters will be safe and even able to interact with each other. They'll even remember everything once the event is over.

EVENT END

At the end of the tenth day, the rift will naturally reset itself and everything will go back to normal. Disappeared characters, items, areas and body parts will all be returned to their rightful place unharmed. The rift will return to its normal unstable weird state and the junkyard will be exactly as it was and fully approachable.

Jin will also reappear, having been stuck in his own pocket dimension the whole time. His machine will never reappear, however. I imagine he'll have some explaining to do.
